Mexico ranks as the second most dangerous country in the world for trans people. From 2008 to 2024, 701 trans lives have been lost to hate crimes. But in the rush to count numbers, we often forget to count what truly matters: the lives themselves.
Through a series of chapters, “vIdA” not only shows us what she does and what she loves, but also sheds light on the reality for trans individuals in a country like Mexico. “vIdA” is inspired by the real lives of five individuals who fell victim to hate crimes, including Paola Buenrostro, a trans woman whose murder recently led to the approval of the Transfeminicide Law, which now symbolically bears her name.
